周春红研究员的研究方向主要包括气溶胶以及其与云相互作用、全球和区域化学天气数值预报系统CUACE研发,雾-霾和沙尘暴数值预报。她完成中国气象局化学天气数值预报系统CUACE的总体框架的设计和搭建,完成了CUACE与气象模式MM5在线耦合;完成亚洲沙尘暴数值预报系统CUACE/Dust模式系统业务建业并负责业务支持和业务升级;是第一版中国气象局雾-霾数值预报系统 CUACE/ Haze-fog业务系统的完成人,并支撑并参与CUACE/Haze-fog 15公里版本的业务化升级,目前正在进行中国气象局全球化学天气模式系统的研发。她正在主持科技部”十四五““气土水专项”项目1项,主持完成1 项科技部“十二五”国家科技支撑项目和1项青年基金,是2个“973”项目的骨干及课题管理,也是行业专项、重点基金等多个项目的骨干。她获省部级科技进步奖4项,发表SCI论文28篇,作为副主编完成专著2部,是2部外文专著主笔人之一,5部中文专著的章作者。

      她2014年被推荐为中国气象局雾-霾创新团队骨干成员,目前是中国气象局化学-天气科技创新团队成员。她自2008年起参加国际沙尘暴计划WMO SDS WAS,目前是该计划亚洲区域中心模式对比组组长,她2010年被推荐为世界气象组织城市气象和环境研究WMO GURME 计划科学指导委员会成员,2016年至今是世界气象组织近实时模拟应用计划WMO GAW APP科学指导委员会委员。
