王勇,男,博士,国家特聘教授、博导,中国气象局地球系统数值预报中心,首席科学家;南京信息工程大学教授; 德国、奥地利和瑞士三国气象学会《Meteorologische Zeitschrift(气象杂志)》联合主编。主要研究领域包括:数值预报及应用,集合预报,短临预报及其应用,并且在这些领域里组织领导了多项欧盟(EU)、世界气象组织(WMO)、欧洲空间局(ESA)及欧洲气象合作组织(EUMETNET)等的重大国际项目。1994年毕业于奥地利维也纳大学气象系获博士学位,后就职于奥地利国家气象地震局。在其就职期间,任奥地利气象局模式中心主任,WMO大气科学委员会,WMO基础系统专家组,WMO世界天气研究计划专家组成员。 作为专家组组长,主持编写了WMO短临预报指南。作为首席科学家领导了欧洲短临短期天气预报计划,欧洲多国区域数值预报合作联盟,并任欧洲数值预报中心(ECMWF)技术委员会成员等。在数值预报模式,对流尺度集合预报及短临预报方面发表60多篇SCI论文代表性成果,撰写一本英文版短临预报技术指南学术专著。主持开发了短临短时无缝隙天气分析预报及应用系统INCA,在世界上许多国家和地区的业务中得到广泛应用。
