二级教授，2007年获中国科学院大气物理研究所博士学位。2015、2018作为高级访问学者在美国马里兰大学进行合作研究。现为中国气象局气象干部培训学院业务培训部副主任。主要从事暴雨、台风、强对流等灾害性天气的发生发展机制研究、高原天气特征及发生发展机制研究。

主持并参加国家及省部级科研项目近30项，其中主持国家自然科学基金4项，主要参与者参加国家自然科学基金高原重大研究计划集成项目和第二次青藏高原科考研究。在SCI等核心期刊发表学术论文近百篇，出版《Q矢量原理及其在天气分析和预报中的作用》（第一著者）《中尺度气象学》（编著者之一）等论著9部。

担任世界气象组织（WMO）气象科学人员基础指导教程（BIP-M/MT）指导专家和审议专家。为《气象》等期刊编委，中国气象学会副热带气象委员会委员、福建省灾害天气重点实验室学术委员会委员。培养研究生十余名。担任多个国内外学术期刊审稿人。

主讲课程有高等天气学、天气学原理、中尺度气象学、天气学诊断、多普勒天气雷达原理与应用等

2015年获中国气象科学院优秀研究生导师奖，所指导研究生多次获得优秀学位论文。
